Songwriter, vocalist, producer, and guitar slinger, Phil Gammage is a Texas-born and raised artist who now resides in New York. His new recording studio music project is The Starlight Set. Their debut album More than a Touch of Class is a collection of songs inspired by the lounge, exotica, and pop music of the 1960s and 70s – all presented with a modern sensibility and sense of humor. Think rat pack, femmes fatales, dark streets, crime jazz, smoky lounges, potent martinis, etc.

“Midnight on main street U.S.A. Outside a smoky lounge you hear a music so evocative and compelling that you are driven to step inside. Upon entering, you see across the dimly lit room of well dressed patrons, a beckoning stage upon which all eyes are focused. Intoxicated by the hypnotic rhythms, you are drawn, trance-like, closer and closer. After fighting through the crowd, you finally reach the stage front and before you stands a group of four dashingly handsome men and an exotically beautiful woman who command the stage. The torrid vocals, hypnotic vibraphone, and sultry saxophone seduce and transport you to another world…”

About the The Starlight Set Phil says:

“I love this stye of music and have been writing these kinds of songs for years. After penning a few more last year, I decided to launch a new project The Scarlet Set with the release of the album More than a Touch of Class. It’s fun music, and evokes a fun era.”
